Nothin’ Special ’bout Me

There’s billions of us on the planet, billions have passed through, odds are there’s billions more to come.  It’s perfectly  understandable that, along with the other illusions that sustain us, our need to feel special to someone ranks high. We give up a good many freedoms to achieve and sustain the experience of that.  We’ll sacrifice a good deal to find it again if it seems that what we have of it is to be lost.

 Nothin’ Special ’bout Me

/Em…/…./…./…./

You’ve got soft skin, darlin’…..and smooth thighs

And a romantic sparkle ….. in your eyes

/A7…/…./Em…/….

And you’re lookin’ at me, like you like what you see

/B7…/A7…/Em…./B7…/

While that woman of mine

Thinks there aint nothin’ special ‘bout me

*

I am tempted and I’d like to be tried

And most of the time I aint this shy

And I don’t know why, I am so tongue-tied

When that woman of mine

Thinks there aint nothin’ special ‘bout me

*

You’re so young, darlin…. you’re so fine

You make me feel like I was in my prime

And I don’t know why…..I am paralyzed

When that woman of mine

Thinks there aint nothin’ special about me

*

/Cma7…/Em…/Cma7…/Em…/

Life may be a fantasy

It often seems like that to me

/Cma7…/…./B7…/….

Where what we believe is what we perceive

Might help us through the day

*

I’d like to believe that someone like you

Could take this tarnished piece of silver

And make it shine like new

And it might just be……temporary

But I’d like someone to believe

That there’s somethin’ special ‘bout me

*

You’ve got soft skin darlin’…. and smooth, smooth thighs

And a romantic sparkle in your eyes

And you’re lookin’ at me, like you like what you see

While the woman I love

Thinks there aint nothin’ special ‘bout me

Maybe you could be

Someone who sees somethin’ special about me
