Cold Wind Through My Heart

I spent a lot of years in a peak relationship.  It featured a full range of complementary essential elements. One thing that made it achievable was retaining the cautionary awareness that if two people coexist at such a fortunate place, atop a pyramid as we metaphorically imagined it,  then smoving away from it might very quickly take us out of sight of one another. But after a couple of decades we did take a step or two away from one another and then a few more.  This song  describes the moment when it struck me that we may have taken too many.
COLD WIND THROUGH MY HEART /D…/…./Bm…/…./G…./…./

Don’t…Oh don’t wait too long…to comprehend

/A…./…./

We merely borrow what life lends

/D…/…./.Bm…/

Take…take those gifts with graciousness

/G…/…./A…./…./

They’re ours to use……they’re ours to lose

*

/D…/…./G…/…./

So………..when you ask me

/D…/…./G…/…./

Now..how can things ever turn out right

/Em7…/…./A…/…./

Darlin’ can’t you see

/A…/…./D…/G…/D…/A…/

It sends a cold wind through my heart

*

You and I………exemplify

How love can be

If you share it honestly

Still……that’s nothing we should count upon

There is no guarantee

That one day it won’t be gone

*

So when you ask me……

*

Don’t…Oh don’t wait too long

To comprehend

We merely borrow what life lends

Take…take your gifts with graciousness

They’re ours to use

They’re ours to lose

*

So when you ask me…….
