Ain’t Tryin’

This popped into existence after I was interviewed by some radio guy looking for pat answers to his questions and getting kind of peeved when he didn’t get them.  Seems like very few folks can believe you do what you are doing because you like to do it and for not in the search for fame and wealth

AINT TRYIN’ TO GET SOMEWHERE

Vamp on D-D7

The interviewer on the radio

Said..where would you like your music to go

Vamp on F

I pretended that I didn’t understand

D/D7

I said…I like to keep it close to hand

A

I like to grab my guitar and sit right back

Gstop….Gstop

Wait for a song to come down the track

A

Try to get to know it ‘fore its gone for good

G

And introduce it ‘round the neighborhood

*

I just try to tell a story

Tell it honest as I dare

It’s too late for dreams of glory

To disturb my savoir faire

I’m so pleased when people hearken

To the thoughts I have to share

And I’m happy as a clam

Being where I am

I aint tryin’ to get somewhere

He said what kind of music do you play

I said let me put it this-a-way

I take the songs the way they come

You don’t mess with fortune some

I’m so pleased when the muse is kind

Grateful’s the word that comes to mind

I pass ‘em on the way they come to me

Don’t try to squeeze ‘em in some category

I just try to tell a story

Try to tell it from the heart

It’s too late for fame or glory

I just like to play my part

I’m so pleased when people hearken

To the thoughts I have to share

And I’m happy as a clam..bein’ who I am

I aint tryin’ to get somewhere
